FCC Ruling Affects Cellular Communications
8/2/2007
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has set February 18,
2008 as the final deadline for customers to use analog cellular
equipment for their security communication system (backup or primary).
If you currently use a cellular communication device, this
ruling may affect you. CALL EEI at 813-264-1907 to confirm.
EEI Security is currently soliciting bids from industry providers
for the most advanced digital cellular communication device available
to replace your obsolete analog system. The new digital equipment
is superior to analog and will provide more options for usage and
dependability. You will be notified in writing as to the cost and
how to schedule an appointment for the upgrade.
Please keep in mind that EEI Security has several hundred of analog
systems that need to be changed by February 18, 2008. Please don’t
delay making your appointment as we must start scheduling change-outs
immediately. We appreciate your confidence in EEI Security and this
opportunity to continue providing you with cutting-edge technology
for your security system. Call us today at (813) 264-1907.
High Speed Options Can Affect Service
Many people are turning to high speed communication options for
their phone and internet access. DSL provides people with high speed
internet access right through their phone line in a way similar
to a cable modem. You do not notice any difference in the way your
phone works. HOWEVER, your alarm works on a slower baud rate than
the DSL service. This situation is cleared up with the addition
of a filter on your phone line at the alarm panel. If you have signed
up for DSL service, please give us a call so we can help you keep
your security system working correctly.
The newest kid on the block is called "Voice Over IP"
which uses your high speed internet connection to provide you with
your phone service (VONAGE is one popular example). When a customer
signs up for "Voice Over IP" and cancels their regular
phone service, we might need to make some changes to keep the security
system connected to the monitoring station. Please call us so that
we can evaluate your individual needs.
Effective September 1st
2008
Because of the increase in gas, auto insurance, and vehicle repair we regrettably must add a $25.00 trip charge for all service calls. Labor charges will remain the same.
